bydOn the morning of June 9, nearly a thousand people attended BYD's shareholder meeting, setting a historic record. This detail alone shows the high level of external interest the company isreceiving.
Wang Chuanfu spoke very directly at the meeting: the second-generation Blade Battery, combinedwith flash charging technology, has basically solved the biggest problem of electric vehicles—slow charging. Feedback from both domestic and internationalmarkets has been positive. However, production capacity cannot keep up, which is currently the biggest bottleneck.
Currently, production capacity is ramping up month by month, increasing at a pace of about 20,000 to30,000 units, with the company making every effort to catch up. To put it bluntly, this year's sales figures depend entirely on how many batteries can be produced. The company is now concentrating its resources onthe battery division to push the production capacity of Blade Batteries to its absolute limit.
His assessment is that therewill be a decent figure this year, but the larger volume will have to wait until next year. Once the capacity ramp-up is in place next year, both domestic and overseas markets will take off simultaneously.
The logic is veryclear—the technology has been validated and market demand is there; the only current bottleneck is capacity. Whoever builds up capacityfirst will capture the orders. Next year will be the real inflection point for volume expansion, while this year is more aboutbuilding momentum.
